Frequently asked questions
How much home loan can I get on a ₹50,000 salary?
With no other EMIs, lenders often allow total EMIs of up to about half your net monthly income, so about ₹25,000 a month. At 8.5% for 20 years that supports a home loan of about ₹28,80,771. Lenders' limits vary, commonly between 40% and 60% of income.
How much home loan can I get on a ₹1 lakh salary?
About ₹57,61,542 at 8.5% over 20 years, assuming no other EMIs and a 50% limit. A longer tenure or a lower rate raises the amount; existing EMIs reduce it.
How much down payment do I need?
RBI limits how much of a home's value a bank can lend: up to 90% for loans up to ₹30 lakh, 80% for ₹30 to ₹75 lakh, and 75% above ₹75 lakh. You pay the rest, plus stamp duty and registration, yourself.
Does my credit score change my eligibility?
Yes. A higher score usually gets a lower rate, and a lower rate supports a larger loan for the same EMI. Some banks advertise their lowest rate only for scores of 750 or 800 and above.
